Last Christmas, I joined a project in which we went around the city giving presents to good children that we came across. That night I saw a small boy who was standing in a crowd of drunk guys on the sidewalk. He looked quite naughty, just like other street children. Because that project’s objects are good children who know how to help their parents or who are obedient, my friend and I at first had the thought not to approach that boy. But I finally came to him.
- What are you doing here? – I asked
- I’m waiting for my brother. He’s selling lottery to the drunk guys there – The little boy answered, pointing to another boy standing not very far from us. That boy was only 2 or 3 years older than this boy, we guessed.
- Do you two going to school?
- I do, but my brother doesn’t.
- Okay, Santa Clause has Christmas gifts for you and your brother! Be a good child and next year you will receive bigger gifts! – I said, giving him the gifts.
And we were very surprise when the little boy folded his arms in front of his chest and say ‘thank you very much’. Just that time, we looked in to his eyes and found that those were so bright, and he was such a docile and lovely child.
That Christmas, we learnt not to judge people at the first sight!
